Happy New Year 2022

As we reflect on the past year and look forward to 2022, I feel like, even with all the insanity of COVID, 2021 was much, much better than 2020 was.

Positives of 2021

  • The kids went back to school fully in person this year!
  • Leslie’s in the gifted and talented program at her school.
  • I got a job, started part time, but within a month was made full time.
  • Sean got a new job, and though he had to take a minor pay cut, it’s much better than working in the moving business.
  • Hailie turned 16!
  • We are financially stable!  We have an emergency fund and though we may not be fully debt free, we are working hard towards financial freedom.
  • Everyone continues to be happy and healthy.
  • We were introduced to Compassion International, sponsored children through them and are doing all we can to spread the word about their mission.
  • We got to go to Florida for spring break.  The kids had a blast and we got to explore the area that we hope to one day move to.
  • We got to start back in Shaolin and are ready to test and learn more.

Negatives of 2021

  • Winter the Dolphin died. We were all sad because we loved Winter.
  • The kids still have to wear masks to school.
  • Lorianna had surgery to have her VNS replaced.
  • COVID is still holding the country back.  This is something that will always be there now. It’s a virus that we need to learn to live with but not fear.
  • Gained back weight that I worked so hard to loose.
  • Started having pain in my knee again.

Goals for 2022

  • Convince Hailie to get her license.
