El Puerto Mexican Restaurant in Indianapolis

While we were in Indianapolis, we did what we always try to do and looked for a Mexican Restaurant to try.  Since Mexican is one of our favorite types of food, we always try to find one while we are traveling.  There were two choices within a mile of the La Quinta we were staying at.  We chose El Puerto because it came up first.  We didn’t know anything about it or what to expect from it.

When we got there, we were seated immediately.  They brought out the chips and salsa.  The chips were fresh and the salsa was good. Leslie was saying it was “good but spicy.”  Since I like things really spicy, it was a little too bland for me.  All the kids and Sean enjoyed it though and I ate some as well, thinking how good it would be if only it were spicier.

The employees were friendly and had fun teasing the kids and making them laugh.  The service was timely and for the most part, we were pleased with the food.  It was hot and fresh.  Hailie got rice and chicken.  Kyle had a soft taco with rice and beans.  Lorianna and Leslie both got cheese quesadillas with rice.  Sean had a crunchy taco and two enchiladas and I had the chicken enchilada plate.  Hailie wasn’t overly fond of the rice, comparing it to her favorite rice, but Leslie ate hers and gave it a thumbs up.  She ate some of Lorianna’s as well and said she would finish Lorianna’s and eat what was left of Hailie’s and Kyle’s rice “tomorrow”.  So we got a box to take it with us for later.

The restaurant was clean and the decorations were typical of a Mexican restaurant, colorful and flamboyant.

It was a good choice to finish off a great day. I would suggest El Puerto to anyone in the Indianapolis area, who is looking for a Mexican restaurant. The service is top notch and the food is authentic, even if it’s not as spicy as I would like. You will not be disappointed with this place.
