Fire Prevention Festival 2018

We got an advertisement from the school about the Fire Prevention Festival at Masterson Station Park and decided it would be fun to take the kids.  We got there a little early so the kids sat down to wait for them to open the gates.

Walking in the first thing you see are, of course, the fire trucks.  This old truck was a beauty.

Then as we walked further in there were some of the more modern ones with a few old trucks interspersed through.  It was nice for the kids to be able to see the fire trucks up close. They also had a search and rescue boat that the kids could look at.

After the fire trucks, there was a bus from the Department Of Community Corrections that the kids could climb into and explore. Lorianna had a good time looking around until she realized that it’s what they use to transport prisoners in.

After exploring the bus, we walked over so the kids could check out the garbage trucks. All the kids took turns climbing into the drivers seat and Kyle was excited to be able to sit in another garbage truck.

After exploring the garbage trucks the kids wanted to go to the medical helicopter and check it out! They got to climb into it also. Again, Kyle was very excited.

After that Lorianna insisted we had to go to the bouncy house, even though she refused to get in.

In the area where the bouncy house was, they had a lot of different activities for the kids. One activity was learning the basics of how to use a fire extinguisher. The kids all tried it out.

The firefighters were putting on demonstrations of their skills through the day. I really enjoyed when they rappelled from the top of an extended ladder to the ground. It was fun to watch.

They also were giving fire truck rides, but we didn’t have time for that. We had a good day looking around though and just enjoying being together as a family. It was a very fun day and Kyle just loved seeing all the fire trucks there.
