If you are in the Cincinnati area, one of the places you have to stop at is Jungle Jim’s International Market. It may be one of the largest grocery stores you have ever been in.  With items from every part of the world, you can most likely find whatever you are looking for there, eventually.  Expect to spend the day there, it will take that long to see everything.  When you first walk in, they have a map and the weekly ad for you.  Don’t forget to grab a cart from outside before coming in.

Make sure to look around, they have cute things like this grumpy corn all over the store.  They have swinging soup, the big cheese, a singing Elvis bear, a Robin Hood scene and a firetruck. These are just a few of the things that you will find as you look around the store. And that’s just the beginning.

Like any grocery store, they sell food and lots of it. You can find everything from chips to candy to produce (and a whole produce markdown area). They have a large cheese section, from many different countries and don’t forget to ask for samples. They also have an olive bar (you can sample them) and a salsa bar (again with the opportunity to sample). They have a health foods section, specialty sodas, honey, a coffee bar and even a toy shop and greenhouse. Guess what? Do you have pets? They even sell pet food, toys and some supplies there.

Their beer and wine section is like a store on it’s own. They have anything you are looking for, and probably things you never knew you were looking for. And again, there is a markdown section where you can pick up something new to try out, or sometimes find your favorites there. What a surprise, they even have beer and wine festivals, opportunities to try new things and yes, what a surprise, a tasting bar.

The prices, you will find are at a competitive price, and you never know what you will find on sale, marked down, or discounted to move. Sometimes you will find items on sale for 10 cents or 50 cents as you look around. They have an area where they have carts with items marked down and I’ve frequently found items marked at 10 for $1.00. Last time I was there, there were bottles of iced tea, slightly sweetened 10 for $1.00. Since my husband likes sweet tea, of course I had to stock up, so I picked up 10. After I got home, and he tried it, I wished that I had picked up at least 20 of them. I’ve had that happen many times. I pick something up because it’s cheap, get home (we live an hour and a half away) and wish that we had gotten more.

Are you feeling like you are wanting “a taste of home” or do you want to try a specific cuisine. Their international section is split up between countries. If you are looking for Indian foods, they have an India area, or British and Canadian area, Asian area, Spain, Greece, France, African American… I think you get the idea. Over 70 countries are represented in Jungle Jim’s so make sure you have that map on hand or you might just get lost.

They also offer tours of the store and have events that they put on. Events like Weekend Of Fire, where they show off their hot sauce, salsas, mustards, rubs, marinades, and beef jerky. They also offer classes, things like how to prepare a certain dish or how to choose a certain type of food, for example, one of their classes is about grains, the different types of grains and how to incorporate them into different dishes like salads. You could make a trip to Jungle Jim’s a vacation all on it’s own if you attended one of the weekend events. It’s definitely worth the trip. So if you are looking for something different, or perhaps looking for “a taste of home”, Jungle Jim’s is the place to be.

I have never wanted to visit Cinnci…..and only because I am a HUGE Baltimore Ravens fan. But…..now I want to go just so I can shop there! It sounds amazing and absolutely somewhere I would love to spend a day! I don’t think I have ever heard about or been to a store like that. Dang it, I wish we had one here!!! Great article!

Great overview! If I ever visit Cincinnati, I will be sure to stop there. I didn’t realize that Jungle Jim’s was a market until I started reading the article. Looks like a fun place, especially since I am a cheese-lover. Have a super day!

When I first heard of Jungle Jim’s I never knew what to expect. My grandmother told me about it, she’s from England and that’s where she gets all her favorite British foods and candy. I stepped in and was overwhelmed at the size of the place and I spent 8 hours there and only saw maybe a third of the store (I did find the English section my first time there). Now if I have extra time when I go to Cincinnati, I make the drive there (it’s about 15 minutes away from where my daughter’s neurologist is.). And I always spend at least $100 there every time I go, stocking up on my favorite candy, foods and produce, which is much cheaper to purchase there.
