Just another trip

I had to go to Cincinnati Children’s hospital today to discuss Lorianna and what we want to get out of this next neuropsychological testing session. For me, it was just another day, just another trip. Lorianna didn’t really understand why I had an appointment there without her. However, we were able to discuss how she’s doing, my current concerns about her and discuss her sleep issues. The trip up there wasn’t too bad, however, traffic was heavy once I got close to Cincinnati. It was heavier than I expected for the time of day. Usually by 10 am, the traffic has died down some up there.

We talked about how she’s doing better at home listening and is now able to follow 2 step directions. We discussed how she’s doing at school and her social skills. We talked about how she gets irritated at her sisters and uses her words to ask them to leave her alone, but when they keep bothering her, how she will sometimes lash out and hit or push them away. It was about what I expected of the appointment, it wasn’t the first time. It was odd being there without Lorianna though, every other appointment, the child is required to be there.

After I left, I stopped at Abuelo’s for lunch. It’s the closest one to us now that the Abuelo’s in Lexington closed. This is my very favorite Mexican Restaurant. They have the best habanero salsa around. Their food is also always fresh and hot. Hailie always wants Abuelo’s rice, she asked me that morning if I was stopping at Abuelo’s and begged me to get her some rice if I did. So, what choice did I have but to stop and get her some rice. So I went ahead and had lunch while I was there.

Usually when I’m there, the service is fairly slow. I don’t mind because it gives me chance to relax and enjoy a few minutes of peace before getting back on the road. This time though, the waiter was quick. I knew exactly what I wanted, so I didn’t have to look at the menu. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito with papa con chile and refried beans. I also asked for the inferno salsa to go with my chips. I like to mix the inferno and especial salsa together.

I was enjoying my chips and salsa (perhaps enjoying too much) when my meal came out. I was surprised at how quickly they had it ready; usually it takes longer to come out. I looked it over and then added the salsa to my burrito, yes I like my food spicy, before cutting it up and eating. It was as good as ever. I put a little salsa on the beans and took a bite.

Yum Yum! It was soooo good. I was able to eat slowly and enjoy it. I went through about 6 glasses of water as I ate. The waiter was good at keeping the water coming. As I was finishing up, I stopped the waiter and ordered Hailie’s rice and Sean the bean and cheese burrito with papas and beans to go. By the time I was done, the to go food was ready and I was ready to go. I paid and was off, ready to head back home.

It was a long trip home, cause I had a full stomach and it had gotten humid. For a while, I thought it was going to rain, but only got a couple drops on the windshield. The last half hour, I really struggled to stay awake, but made it home by 1:30 and was ready to get out and stretch my legs. It was a long trip, but I enjoyed the time to myself.
