The Birthday Girl

We went to a birthday party for our niece, Nicole, who just turned 6 years old. The party was at The Academy Gymnastics and Cheer center. It was slotted to be a 2 hour party. Unfortunately, the party started late, because the locks on the main door had been changed and the employee hadn’t been given the new key yet. However, once we were in, the party went very well. It was a clean place with plenty of room for the kids to run and play. There was a foam pit with various ways to swing into it and was all the kids’ favorite place to play. They all were swinging and jumping into it. The rock climbing wall was small, but fairly easy for young kids to manage. Kyle climbed it twice with no problems. A couple of the kids tried the high bar, which they seemed to enjoy as well. Hailie tried out the lower balance beams, but wasn’t confident enough to get on the taller ones, even though she took gymnastics for 2 years. They also monkey bars and a long trampoline. All of the things you would expect in a gymnastics center.

Since it was a birthday party, it was open gym and so, not structured. The cake and food was supplied by my sister-in-law, so I didn’t get to see what kind of cakes they provide for a party there. The party room was small, but clean and organized. They had 2 large tables for the kids to sit and eat at then 2 smaller tables for cake, food and presents. There was a fridge to keep items cold or frozen in the room. The bathrooms and water fountain were not within the gym area, so if there are small kids in the party, there would need to be a supervising adult to take kids out. The employee that was there was very friendly. Overall, even though the party started late, it went very well. Unfortunately, at the end of the party, another party group showed up and started playing in the gym at the same time as our group, and the employee didn’t stop them. The should not have been allowed to enter the gym area until after our party had ended.

With the All Inclusive Party the company provides everything, the cake with candles, ice cream, drinks, plates and napkins and there is an additional fee if food is brought in. With the Space Rental Only Party, the guests have to provide everything and there is no extra fee for food brought in and the birthday child gets a t-shirt with either party. Parties can be 1 1/2 hours or 2 hours and prices vary based upon the number of children in attendance. There is an option of up to 10 and up to 20 children with both time slots.
