Someone had quite a bad start to their morning

My morning started out like every other. I got up, had some coffee, checked my social media and then my blog for comments. At 7, I got the kids, who were still asleep up and everyone got ready for the day. I walked the younger kids to school, came home, and got breakfast for Kyle, checked on Hailie then had another cup of coffee before taking Hailie to school. This is where my day varied.

After dropping Hailie off at school, I got a call from my grandmother.  She needed me to swing by and drop something off. This made it so that I was later heading to the Y that day.  After I left her house, I had to stop and get fuel in the car, because I was on a quarter of a tank, and I never let it get any lower than a quarter of a tank.  After leaving the Shell station, I didn’t want to get back onto the main road, so I took the side road to get to the road I needed to be on.

As I was pulling onto the road again, I noticed a huge billow of smoke in a parking lot just a little way down the road.  Being the curious person that I had, I had to check it out, especially once I saw the smoke get darker.  So I pulled into the parking lot of the Social Security office and saw that the smoke was coming from a car parked there.  After a quick prayer for the owner of the car, I got out and immediately started recording.  This must have just happened, because there wasn’t a fire truck there yet.

About 5 minutes after I first saw the smoke and pulled in, the fire truck got there.  As the fire truck came in and blocked my view, I stopped recording so I could move and started recording again.

All I can say about this whole situation is WOW!!! I don’t know how the fire started, and I don’t know how long they were there, because Kyle was starting to get fussy.  He was ready to get to the YMCA and play.  I am sure glad it wasn’t my car burning and I feel so sorry for the owner of that now totaled car, because there is no way that car is going anywhere ever again.  I am happy that no one was hurt and Kyle really enjoyed watching the fire truck at work.

Wow! I’m glad no one was hurt but how did this fire start?

I never found out. None of the news stations reported on it. It kind of seems an odd place if it overheated, especially since it was backed into the spot.

Wow so scary, it is amazing that nobody got physically hurt but I am sure it was terrifying.

Yes, it’s scary when things like that. Luckily there was no other cars around it and the fire truck got there quickly. They weren’t getting it done with the fire extinguishers.

Oh my gosh! That looks terrifying! So glad no one was hurt.

I bet the owner was very terrified. Kyle actually had fun watching them put the fire out though. I wish I knew how it started though. I never found out whether it overheated or if it was something else. But the car was backed into the spot and I know that if my car was overheating, I wouldn’t take the time to back into a parking space.

That is so crazy. Glad nobody was hurt & the fire truck got there before anything spread. Fires are scary business! A little wind and the catch something else on fire.

    • Gina says:

Yes, especially as there was some dead grass behind the car. And the cop that pulled right up to it, had the sense to back his car off once he realized there was an actual fire and not just an overheated situation.

  6. Yikes! I am glad nobody got hurt, but that sure was a lot of excitement!

Yes it was! I was glad to see the owner of the car talking to the SS office security personnel, but I feel so bad for him. It made me extremely grateful it wasn’t MY car sitting there. It added some excitement to my normally dull morning.
