What we are thankful for

As we close out October and move into November, we move into a month where everyone talks about all that they are thankful for.  We should be thankful year around and even though I’m sure many are, so many people spend their lives griping and complaining about everything that goes wrong, rather than finding things through the year to be thankful for.  My husband and I are also bad about this too, so today, I’m going to make a list of things that I’m thankful for.

1. God!
He is always there to guide us and we can trust that he will provide for all our needs.

2. A roof over our head.
Without the help of my grandmother, we likely wouldn’t have this, or at least it would be a whole lot harder.

3. Our health
Everyone is alive and well other than the minor cold, seasonal sinus’, and Lorianna’s epilepsy, which is much better controlled now than ever before.  Many others don’t have good health.

4. Family
To us, family is everything.  We have each other and can depend on one another.  We also have extended family that we can call on or turn to when things get tough!

5. Food, Water, Necessities
We may struggle, but can find enough money month to month in order to cover most of the necessities that we need.

6. Friends
We have friends who are there when things get tough.  We know we can talk to our friends when we need support or a listening ear.

7. A Job
There are so many people out there who can’t find work, however, Sean has never been long without employment and has been lucky enough to have a stable job for the last 10 years.

8. Transportation
We have a way to get from point A to point B.  We don’t have to walk miles to get to where we need to be.

9. Peace
Even though there are a number of people who feel the need to protest constantly, we don’t live in a war torn society where we fear for our lives daily.

10. Happiness
Even though we may complain about aches and pains, or not having the latest and greatest technologies at times, we are still a pretty happy family.  We don’t live our lives in a complete depression and we have each other to lean on when things get tough.

11. Music, Art
Sometimes these things get us through the day.  Without these joys of life, I don’t know if any of us would be able to get through a day.  We sing, listen to songs on the radio, Hailie loves to draw and I love to write.  These are all things that we can have that help us get through the day.

12. Pets
We have pets that we can talk to when there is no one else to listen, or who will come over and add just a little more joy to our lives when we start to feel down.

13. Education
There are still may places where people don’t have access to education.  However, we live in a country where everyone has an opportunity to get an education!

There are a lot more, and I will add to this list as I think of more, but this is a good start of things that we have to be thankful for, not just in November, but year around!  Things may seem bad, but when you think about all you have to be thankful for, it really isn’t as bad as things may seem.  We take everything we have for granted sometimes, and we shouldn’t.  We should be grateful daily for all we have, rather than complaining about the things that we don’t have.  How about you?  What are things that you have that you are grateful for today?

Thank you. And you’re welcome. It helps to be reminded sometimes that even the things we take for granted could be taken from us at any time. Have a great day!

Great list, I love the photos! Some of these things are easy to take for granted. It’s so important to pause and be thankful for all we have 🙂

Thanks! Yes it is so easy to take what you have for granted, especially when things are going well and you are so busy that you don’t have time to sit and think about all that you have. You don’t really think about these things unless things start to go bad, or you loose what you have. I’m trying to remember that I need to slow down for a time every day and thank God for everything that we do have, and stop complaining about the things that we don’t have.

This is a lovely post, so positive and heart warming. I could probably list loads and loads too, but I’m definitely grateful for my family and friends, and my pets because they’re so cute and adorable <3

Thank you. Without my family and friends, I wouldn’t be the person that I am. And I couldn’t imagine life without my pets. It would be a sad world if we didn’t have our pets to keep us company and give us love.

Thanks! It’s great to be thankful for the things that you have. Not everyone has the things that we as Americans sometimes take for granted.
