Sean and I had a date night plus Kyle at Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen. It’s a place that we have only been to a couple times before, and something different, as our normal date night places haven’t been up to par recently and we wanted a nice, peaceful and relaxing meal. We had an amazing meal; it was a calm, peaceful setting and the service was great. It wasn’t so loud that we had to yell at each other in order to be heard. We could talk in a normal conversational tone and be easily heard.

Our waitress, Alex, was very attentive, polite and professional without being pushy and trying to get us out as soon as possible. The food was good, served hot and without a long wait and ample portions. We certainly didn’t go home hungry or unsatisfied. Sean and Kyle started out with sweet tea, while I gave in and splurged on a Strawberry Margarita. Something I wouldn’t usually do, as I’m not a big drinker, but I needed something to help me relax. We ordered the chips and homemade queso for an appetizer, which we also found out that it came with salsa as well when it was brought out). The drinks were brought out promptly and were right, something we have been struggling with at our normal restaurants. The appetizer was brought out soon after and was fresh and the queso was nice and warm. Even Kyle really enjoyed the chips and queso.

We then placed our orders. Kyle wanted chicken and fries, I got the vegetable plate with a salad. I ordered the cheese and broccoli casserole, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli and homemade black beans. Sean had the buffalo chicken wraps with mashed potatoes and broccoli cheese casserole. The salad came out, just as I ordered it, without tomatoes or egg. Everything was fresh and very good and they weren’t stingy on anything. As I was still enjoying the 2nd serving of chips with queso (2nd serving of chips was free, which again, we don’t see very often in our usual places, which never give enough chips for the amount of queso provided), I waiting until the rest of the meal arrived before starting on the salad. Once again, the food was brought out in a timely manner and was fresh, warm and good. We didn’t have to ask for drink refills, Alex was on top of everything.

The food I ordered was just amazing. The broccoli was steamed perfectly (not hard and half cooked), the mashed potatoes were very good, soft and the perfect mix of potato and butter. The flavor of the homemade black beans was so good, perfectly spiced and the broccoli cheese casserole was just amazing. I would have never expected such a tasty meal. I was completely satisfied with my order.

Kyle’s food also came out hot and fresh. He enjoyed the chicken and wanted to save one for “later” and had a couple fries. Since he isn’t a big fry eater, I wasn’t surprised he didn’t eat many fries. We brought them home, to be heated up later too. Sean said his food was just as good. He did say the mashed potato was a little salty for him, since we don’t use a lot of salt at home, but otherwise, everything was perfect for him too. He said the buffalo chicken wraps were tasty and not too spicy and it was obvious that he enjoyed the broccoli cheese casserole too.

It was a perfect meal for a date night. No mistakes made, nothing left off the order and everything was tasty, fresh and hot. We didn’t have to wait for our waitress to come around, and she wasn’t pushy either. We didn’t feel that they were trying to push us out the door before we had finished our meals. The food wasn’t so expensive that we felt like we were leaving an arm and a leg behind as well. We will be going back and I think that Cheddar’s will become our new favorite place to eat out. As we were leaving, of course Kyle had to stop and check out the fish in the fish tank. He loved them too.
