Why I love dolphins.

by Leslie Smith

My mom asked me to write about why I love dolphins.  In this report, I will talk about why I love them and why I want to be a dolphin trainer.

I love dolphins because they are smart.  Dolphins can be trained to do tricks.  They can jump really high and touch balls.  They can wave with their flippers, which are also called pectoral fins.  They can “dance” across the water on their tails, which I learned are called flukes.  They love to play with other dolphins and with their trainers.  They can blow water out of their blowholes.  Dolphins can stay under water for a long time, anywhere from 8 to 15 minutes at a time.

I also love dolphins because they are beautiful animals.  I love to sit and watch them swim and play.  I love to see them jump.  They are graceful animals.  I have loved dolphins for a long long time.  Since I was really little.  God made dolphins amazing and I want to be a dolphin trainer when I grow up.

Meet Winter the dolphin

My favorite dolphin of all is Winter the dolphin.  She got stuck in a net and lost her tail.  She now lives at Clearwater Marine Aquarium because she can’t live in the ocean.  She wouldn’t survive.  They made her a special tail that can help her stay alive longer.  Her tail helps her swim like other dolphins.  She loves to play with her trainers and it’s so much fun to sit and watch her and Hope the dolphin play on the live webcams at the aquarium.  I hope that one day I can touch Winter and Hope.  I want to work at Clearwater Marine Aquarium when I grow up because they help sick animals.  If I can’t then I want to work somewhere else where I can help dolphins and train them.

Why I want to be a dolphin trainer

I want to be a dolphin trainer because I love dolphins so much.  I think it would be fun to work with them and help train them to do tricks.  I want to touch them, and feed them, play with them, and swim with them.  I want to learn how to train them.  I love the water.  My mom says that I would live in the water if I could.  She’s probably right.  I love swimming and playing in the water.  I can’t wait until I get to work with dolphins one day. I want to move to Florida where I can see dolphins more and learn more about them.  I also want to be a dolphin trainer because the aquarium is near the beach and I can watch them all day.  I also want to be a dolphin trainer because they are so playful and I can play with them every day.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium

I’ve been to Clearwater Marine Aquarium once but want to go again.  Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a rehabilitation place.  This means that they take sick animals and help them or make them better.  Then if it’s safe for them to be released, the Aquarium releases them back into the ocean so they can live normally.  If they won’t survive, then they stay at the aquarium and it becomes their home.  One day I want to work there if I can because they help animals.  You can help them help animals by giving them money so they can help other animals too.  You can donate to them here.

Thank you for reading my report and please help Clearwater Marine Aquarium if you can. If you help them, you are helping animals. I think that’s a really good cause.
